Once again it’s a holiday in the Berserkshires, but this time it’s Halloween. Dorinda goes all out: hiring a masseuse and a yoga instructor, booking a private tour of the nearby Morgan mansion, and heating her gorgeous pool so that Ramona can enjoy a swim despite the brisk New England air.

It is wasted on these guests, because all they can do is argue about who gets stuck in the “fish room”. There are so many graceful guest rooms on offer, but one of them features a taxidermied shark valued at $11,000, and Tinsley, Luann, and Barbara trade it back and forth like a hot potato.

Over the course of two days, more than one person threatens to check into a hotel rather than sleep there. Sonja and Ramona, meanwhile, go full Grey Gardens. Sonja lectures the docent at the historic Morgan home about touching “the Morgan letters” and Ramona sits down to a catered dinner in a négligée.

Satchels of gold, satchels of gold. Bethenny Frankel, the first truly famous Housewife, was ascendent this season, her feud with ex-friend Jill Zarin and her pregnancy belly both burgeoning. You might even say that she was “up here” and Kelly Bensimon was “down here.” And thus the scene was set for Scary Island.
